....All told, Defendant traveled outside of Michigan seven times at the FBI’s direction, often working extremely late hours; he made repeated trips from Detroit to Grand Rapids; he made 178 consensual recordings of telephone conversations and in-person meetings with investigative targets; and he participated in lengthy interviews with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit and otherwise assisted the FBI’s efforts to improve its intelligence-gathering protocols related to, and its understanding of, underground environmental and animal-rights extremist groups and movements."

It has recently come to our attention that FBI Informant and cooperating defendant in the Mideast Green Scare cases Frank “The Fink” Ambrose is attempting to contact current and former activists. If you receive any communication from Frank you should assume it is coming directly from the FBI.

For your own and others safety DO NOT talk to Frank Ambrose, do not respond to emails from him, do not write him, do not take calls from him. If he calls you tell him to never call you again and hang up. Do not respond or repeat any claims he makes or information he might be claiming to pass along.

Frank's own attorney (A former Federal Prosecutor) has stated in court that Frank's “substantial and rather extraordinary cooperation" with investigators will emerge at sentencing. From court documents we already know he's been acting as a paid FBI informant shortly after the raid on his house in April of 2007.

Frank is an individual who has already proven he will do, say, and sacrifice anyone to appease his FBI handlers and save his own ass. At best Frank's (AKA The FBI) motivations are to sow fear, distention, and mistrust among activists at worst Frank is attempting to get people to let their guard down and gather information that will allow the state to further harm members of our community. DO NOT talk to Frank Ambrose!

5/27: Brief Update:
There are countless tapes of audio recordings of Frank wearing a wire with innocent individuals since April 2007. If you have spoken or associated with Frank during ANY time since April 2007, you should assume that your entire conversation was recorded. It appears that a substantial portion of the EF! Organizers Conference in Florida was also recorded, as those conversations can be found on the audio tapes. Frank is obviously the worst type of informant; if you have ever had any association with him, you should assume that any knowledge he has about you and your activities was given to the Feds. He was directed to pay particular attention to the I-69 EF! campaign (a completely legal activist effort). If you have been visited by law enforcement in relation to these investigations, please get a hold of the NLG as soon as possible by calling 888-NLG-ECOLAW. 4/21: The grand jury in Grand Rapids, MI has handed down new indictments. They are currently under seal. We do not know if they are simply superseding indictments against people who have already been charged, or if these indictments target people who have yet to be arrested. They are expected to be unsealed this week.

Frank Ambrose is said to have been traveling around the country, both to an EF! gathering in Florida (he offered and paid for the airfare of other people to this gathering) and to the West Coast, following the April 10th, 2007 raid on his residence. He is suspected to have begun cooperating with the FBI shortly after that raid.

*There is an active grand jury convened in Grand Rapids, MI investigating the actions that Ambrose plead guilty to. It is likely that this Grand Jury will produce new indictments against unknown individuals and possibly hand down superseding indictments of previously indicted people. The above plea agreement details those actions and the extent of Ambrose's pledged cooperation with the FBI.

*The fifth unindicted individual referenced in the above search warrant, Jesse Waters, is being represented by a known NLG activist attorney. He is aware of the possibility of an upcoming indictment. There is absolutely no information to suggest that Jesse Waters is cooperating with the government.
